My first time ever recording music was in 2008 at Modesto Sound. I was kind of nervous because I hadn't recorded before and didn’t know what to expect. Fortunately, I felt very welcomed and wasn’t intimidated at all. The songs I recorded turned out great and I decided to record some more that I had written over the years. In 2009, with the help of Brenda and the crew at Modesto Sound, I had completed a whole CD and was beginning to become more interested in what goes into putting together an album. So when I found out that I could intern at the studio, I jumped at the opportunity. I interned the summer of 2009 and learned so much about how to record using ProTools, how to set up for a live sound performance, what it takes to put together a successful radio show; we even got to meet and interview local artists and producers. After the internship I was offered the position of Intern Development Leader at Modesto Sound for the following summer internship, which was a lot of fun and an experience worth having. I would encourage anyone with a heart for music to consider volunteering or interning at the studio. You never know what you might be missing out on! – Karen Reed
